I-84 closed in eastern Oregon due to truck crashes

ODOT: East. Ore.: I-84 WESTBOUND freeway is now open in eastern Oregon. The route was closed around noon due to two truck crashes, one at milepost 258 and the other near milepost 270. Winter weather and icy conditions can be expected throughout region. Restrictions on OR 204 and OR 245 are also lifted. Update as of 7:25pm I-84 WESTBOUND freeway in eastern Oregon remains closed between Ontario and milepost 258, three miles west of La Grande. ODOT and hazardous materials crews are working to clean up spilled fuel from the roadway and shoulder, and move the damaged truck and trailer off the roadway. The route is expected to be open within the hour. The WESTBOUND freeway is closed in Ontario due to limit safe truck parking in Baker City. Local residents trying to get to Huntington or Baker City from Ontario may be able to access the WESTBOUND freeway by showing ID at Exit 371. Update as of 6:00pm I-84 EASTBOUND is now open in eastern Oregon. I-84 WESTBOUND remains closed between Ontario and milepost 258, three miles west of La Grande. The freeway closure is due to two separate truck crashes that occurred around noon today near mileposts 270 and 258, and blocked the westbound lanes. The WESTBOUND freeway is closed in Ontario due to limit safe truck parking in Baker City. Local residents trying to get to Huntington or Baker City from Ontario may be able to access the WESTBOUND freeway by showing ID at Exit 371. Previous: I-84 remains closed in eastern Oregon. The EASTBOUND freeway is closed near Pendleton at Exit 216. The WESTBOUND closure has moved from Baker City to Ontario at Exit 374 due to limited parking in Baker City. The freeway closures are due to two separate truck crashes near mileposts 270 and 258 that are blocking the westbound lanes. Because the westbound blockage is preventing ODOT winter maintenance crews from returning after treating snow and ice on the eastbound freeway, both freeways are closed at this time. Emergency responders are on scene and crews are working to get the freeways open as soon as possible, however, the closures are expected to continue for several more hours. Local residents trying to get to Huntington or Baker City from Ontario may be able to access the WESTBOUND freeway by showing ID at Exit 371.
