Huntington man arrested for eluding police on four-wheeler

HUNTINGTON – A sixty-four-year-old Huntington man, riding a four-wheeler, briefly attempted to flee from a traffic stop on Sunday evening according to Oregon State Police. A trooper initially attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the area of highway 30 and Washington Street, around 5:45 p.m., February 13, only for the operator to flee and elude them through town. A full summary of the escapade, as provided in a recent OSP press log, is as follows:

“On the above mentioned date and time, a Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Lincoln Street and US-30 in Huntington on a four-wheeler for an observed violation. The rider eluded the Trooper through town and did not stop. The rider was located about 1/4 mile south on Benson Creek in the sage brush where he was taken into custody. The rider was evaluated by Medix, transported to the hospital and cleared before being lodged at the BCJ on the listed crimes. The property owner allowed the suspect to arrange a tow for the four- wheeler.”

The operator was charged with Attempt Elude Fleeing (Vehicle), Attempt to Elude Fleeing (Foot) Obstructing Governmental Administration, Reckless Driving, and Parole/Probation Violation.
