Hunters have until April 15 to report first quarter hunts

EASTERN OREGON – For hunters that purchased tags for late winter or early spring 2024 hunts, the deadline to report is April 15. This applies to hunters that purchased a tag with a season ending between January 1 and March 31, 2024, regardless of if the hunts were successful or the tag owner even hunted at all. Failure to report will result in a $25 dollar penalty that, as stated by ODFW, “is paid with the purchase of a hunting license two years hence. Only a single penalty is assessed, regardless of the number of tags you did not report.”

All hunters that report on time will be entered into a special extended season big game tag drawing for either deer, elk, or pronghorn (chosen by the hunter). Three winners will be drawn and notified in June.

Hunters can report online, through the MyODFW app, through a license agent, or visiting an ODFW office in person. Information needed to report tags include:

  • A hunter/angler ID number.
  • The two-digit wildlife management unit that was hunted in (or hunted in the most of more than one unit was used).
  • The total number of days hunted, including youth mentoring, and total number of days hunted in the most frequented wildlife management unit.
