PATTERSON — Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday to a report of a boat that capsized while in the Columbia River near Patterson. The initial report was three or four duck hunters and a hunting dog were in a small boat when strong wind and water conditions capsized their boat and left them in frigid waters.
Deputy Brian Ohler responded and coordinated with two local residents, Bob Crow and Matt Brown, to launch a private boat to rescue the subjects in the water. While responding, a second boat with a party of duck hunters assisted in the rescue.
All three hunters and their dog were taken to shore and treated by medical staff for possible hypothermia.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office extends thanks to Jim Perryman, Casey Perryman, Wade Heaton, Dylan Crawford, Matt Brown, and Bob Crow for assisting in rescuing the hunters from the water.
