ASOTIN COUNTY, WA — Human remains found in the ashes of a destroyed home in Asotin County have been identified as belonging to an employee of Wallowa County.

The remains of 48-year-old Michael Odom were identified through dental records, according to the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office. He owned the home that burned to the ground this past July in rural Asotin County where his remains were discovered.

The fire that destroyed the home was reported around 11:00pm on July 29. The cause of that blaze and Odom’s death are still under investigation.

Odom worked for the Wallowa County Road Department. Elkhorn Media Group has reached out to Wallowa County for comment.
