HERMISTON – A resource fair for families of students with disabilities was held earlier this month in the Hermiston School District. Superintendent Tricia Mooney said the event, which included dinner, was a resounding success.

“We’re looking forward to being able to continue it in the future, especially since we know that families are going to show up and have felt that it’s valuable,” Mooney said.

The fair hosted by the district’s Special Programs Department was to connect the families of students with disabilities to the agencies and resources within the community. Mooney said there was a full house for the event at Rocky Heights Elementary School. It was for students with disabilities from birth to age 21.

In addition to connecting families with resources from over 30 participants, classes in taught in both English and Spanish were staged for the parents, and children’s activities were offered. “Education Pathway students from the high school put on some activities for kids, to support kids,” Mooney said.
