HERMISTON – Work on bond projects throughout the Hermiston School District have been proceeding throughout the pandemic. One of the projects is building new softball fields at the high school.
“Where they currently are at Rocky Heights is going to be the site of the new Rocky Heights Elementary,” Superintendent Tricia Mooney said.
Mooney said the work at the high school is starting to look like softball field, which is exciting.
Two major projects are construction of the new Rocky Heights Elementary School and building a brand new Loma Vista Elementary School. Kirby Nagelhout has been awarded the contracts for both projects and the groundbreaking is scheduled for April 13, the first day Hermiston students return to school full time.
Progress is also being made on an addition at Hermiston High School.
“We are still in the design phase, but getting close to wrapping that up for the high school addition,” Mooney said. “That’s going to be around 13 classrooms.”
