HERMISTON – The Hermiston School District Board of Directors has scheduled a public hearing and special meeting at 6:15 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday). Superintendent Tricia Mooney said the bond proceeds to cover the district’s Public Employee Retirement System costs will be coming in before the start of the new fiscal year on July 1.
“Those funds will go directly to PERS before June 30, so it actually is a hearing for this year’s budget,” Mooney said.
Mooney said the school district is part of a pool that is going out for a PERS bond as a money-saving measure.
“It’s actually to help save costs with our unfunded actuarial liability,” she said. “We’ve been working on this process since early December.”
