JOHN DAY – Heart of Grant County Director Beth Simonsen spoke on KJDY’s Coffee Time recently about their Survivor Housing Program, and how money is available to survivors of domestic violence who are struggling with a place to live. Simonsen gave an example of how the funding is often used:
“We use it quite a bit to fill in the gap while [the survivors] get qualified for other subsidized housing money that’s available. A lot of people that serve are low income. The process that takes can take months, so we can use our survivor housing money to help pay rent; to help get them at least in the door while they are waiting for the other subsidies to kick in.”
Survivors interested in learning more about the program can call Heart of Grant County at (541) 575-4335.
