TRI-CITIES – People who are unable to get to COVID-19 vaccination clinics have options in the Tri-Cities. Some residents can be vaccinated in their homes, and others can get free rides to clinics via Ben Franklin Transit.

The fire departments in Pasco, Richland, and Benton County Fire District No. 4 are each offering to bring vaccine to the housebound to administer the shots. The Kennewick Fire Department has a few tests available, but has not launched a specific program. More information about in-home vaccination as well as how to sign up for the service is on the Benton Franklin Health District.

Ben Franklin Transit is adjusting its services to be able to take community members to and from vaccination clinics as well. All BFT services have been free since the pandemic began. Now, the company has provided expanded access to their reserved rides to provide additional transportation options to senior citizens and people with mobility challenges to get them to the sites. People do not have to be members of Dial-A-Ride to benefit. BFT also allows people to travel outside of their service zones to go to a clinic.

People can call the reservations line at 509-735-5100 or use the BFT CONNECT app.
