LA GRANDE – The La Grande School District is in the process of purchasing a piece of land which in time will be used to construct a home.  The construction will be done by students, learning skills to prepare for jobs in the building industry.  The home will be a low to middle income home, which will eventually be sold.  Students will learn valuable and marketable skills by observing and working with Darren Hendrickson, Construction Teacher, licensed subcontractors, and a general contractor on carpentry, framing, sheet rocking, roofing, hanging windows, plumbing, and finish work.

The piece of property is located near the Zion Church in La Grande, just a block from the high school.  The students could be on the construction site as soon as 2024.
