NYSSA — Six people were able to safely escape a house fire in Nyssa that occurred on Friday. Unfortunately, the family has been displaced as a result. Multiple agencies responded to the blaze on N 5th Street in Nyssa, including the Nyssa Fire and Police Departments, Nyssa Public Works, Parma Rural Fire & EMS, Fruitland Fire Department, and Treasure Valley Paramedics.

According to multiple emergency personnel, onlookers were reportedly blocking transportation routes for emergency vehicles to respond to the incident. The Nyssa Police Department reports, “…it has been observed that multiple vehicles blocked the route of emergency vehicles, a circumstance also noted by our responders. This obstruction impeded the prompt arrival of first responders because onlookers were trying to obtain a closer view of the incident. Please maintain a safe distance from any incident to allow responders to effectively perform their duties.”

Nyssa Fire Department reports the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced individuals.
