HARNEY COUNTY-During a special meeting on June 7, the Harney County Health District Board of Directors unanimously agreed to hire Bob Gomes as the permanent chief executive officer (CEO) for the Health District. In this role, Gomes will oversee Harney District Hospital and all of its affiliated entities. Gomes will assume the role of CEO on Monday, July 15.
Gomes is currently the CEO of Community Medical Center in Missoula, Mont. He has been a healthcare administrator for 34 years and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayland Baptist University as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in health administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. Gomes is also a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Gomes spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 40 years. The move to Harney County will bring Bob and Lisa closer to two of their adult children and seven of their grandchildren, who all live in Oregon.
In his spare time, Gomes enjoys road and mountain biking. He and Lisa also enjoy hiking and traveling together.
