LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 149 student-athletes from 68 schools who comprise the 2023 NFCA NAIA All-Region teams. Eastern Oregon had one player make the list, standout pitcher, Kaylie Hoskins. The sophomore was named First Team All-Region in Region IV.
“Such a well-deserved honor for Kaylie,” Head Coach Nicole Christian said. “She put in the work and proved herself to be one of the top pitchers in our conference and in the NAIA. We look forward to her future as a Mountie.”
Hoskins had a prolific year in the circle for Eastern establishing herself as one of the most dominant pitchers in the nation. The sophomore transfer won Newcomer of the Year for the CCC while rewriting the record books at EOU and breaking the conference’s single-season strikeout record. In 30 appearances (27 starts), Hoskins recorded 18 wins, 310 strikeouts (EOU single-season record), and a 1.13 ERA in a conference that had three competitors ranked inside the top-10 nationally. She was named First Team All-Conference for her work in the circle.
The awards honor student-athletes from the Association’s six regions with selection to one of two teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region.
If they were not already voted to an All-Region squad, conference Players and Pitchers of the Year from member institutions are added to the second team in their region, so long as they are nominated by their member head coach and receive votes.
All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the two NFCA NAIA All-America squads, which will be announced on June 6.
