Hope 4 Paws to give out pet food for those in need

JOHN DAY – Hope 4 Paws Grant County will hold a pet food giveaway on June 11th to help pet owners facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic. Hope 4 Paws volunteers will give out dog, puppy, cat and kitten food from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., as long as supplies last, at the back of Pioneer Feed and Farm Supply on West Highway 26 in John Day.

The program is open to Grant County pet owners. Recipients will be asked to sign in with their name, city and pet information.

In a press release issued by Hope 4 Paws, the organization states,

“The Humane Society donation is earmarked to help people on fixed incomes, low- income households and elderly residents who are struggling to afford food for their pets. Organizers stress that the intent is to serve those who are truly in need.

Hope 4 Paws also welcomes cash and food donations for the aid program.”

Organizers encourage pet owners to get engraved I.D. tags and microchips for their pet companions.

The release states that,

“Hope 4 Paws offers its sincere appreciation to the Oregon Humane Society for its generous gift, our local donors, and Pioneer Feed for allowing the event at their lot.
