JOHN DAY – Hope 4 Paws Grant County Director Shawn Duncan was recently on KJDY’s Coffee Time, explaining concern the organization has for the several lost dogs they see and pick up throughout the community:

“People get frustrated because when we see a dog, we’ll pick it up and take it to the vet clinic. Their comment is, ‘Why didn’t you just let it be and let it go home by itself?’ The main problem is we don’t want it to get hit. We don’t want that to happen.”

Duncan said currently there are no leash laws in Grant County. She said the best thing for pet owners to do is to make sure their dogs and cats are microchipped and are wearing identification tags with their owner’s contact information.
