KENNEWICK – Evidence collected thus far following the location of human remains last month in the Columbia River has confirmed it was not a random accident. Detectives from the Kennewick Police Department and Benton County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating this as a homicide.

As previously reported by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, human remains were found in the river on Sept. 27. Two days later, BCSO and KPD confirmed the identity of the remains as Brandy Ebanez, 34, of Kennewick.

Detectives also learned Ebanez lived in an apartment complex on the 3700 block of West Kennewick Avenue.

KPD said more information on this case will be released soon.
