LA GRANDE, 0R – According to Gust Tsiatsos, developer of the veterans housing said the goal is to be completed with the first 7-houses by November 15th. Three of the houses will be ready to be occupied by November 1st. Tsiatsos also said the remaining homes will be completed by the end of the year. The next project will be in Baker County that will begin, with 12 tiny homes built, similar to the ones constructed in north La Grande.
Since veterans will be applying for financial assistance the rent will be affordable. The property is located on Russell Avenue in La Grande and includes tiny houses, 480 square feet, and at least one community facility. Several Veterans in Union County have a hard time finding affordable housing.
The City of La Grande approved the project to build affordable housing for veterans in 2019.
