KENNEWICK – Police officers have charged and released a homeless man for starting a fire that burned an old campsite along Columbia Park Trail early Sunday. Police say the fire was started accidentally by Brandon Patrick, 49.
The fire occurred at the Columbia Park Campground and the Kennewick Fire Department said it had been built in the 1960s and has been closed since 2003. The site is located just north of State Route 240 between Edison Street and Columbia Center Boulevard.
Flames threatened another structure, but firefighters protected it and report no other buildings were damaged. There were no injuries.
