Hit and Run happens in Burns

Burns-Friday night December 15, 2023, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a hit and run crash on Broadway.

The suspect Erica Rodriguez was located away from the scene of the crash in a truck that was missing a wheel. The missing wheel was found near the victim’s vehicle. Oregon State Police interviewed Rodriguez, who admitted to being in the crash and to leaving the scene. Oregon State Police also interviewed a witness who reported hearing the crash and seeing Rodriguez’s vehicle drive away while missing a wheel and dragging sparks.

Indicators of impairment were observed, and Rodriguez refused field sobriety tests. Rodriguez was arrested. A blood draw was conducted, and Rodriguez was lodged in Harney County Jail for DUII, Criminal Mischief, Fail to Preform Duties of a Driver-Property, and Reckless Driving. Rodrigues was also issued a violation citations for no Oregon Driver’s License and Breath Test Refusal.
