BURNS-Firefighters quickly contained a brush fire along the Silvies River on Wednesday afternoon, preventing flames from spreading to nearby structures.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., the Burns Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a vegetation fire burning near the riverbanks with homes and outbuildings in close proximity. Recognizing the potential threat, the Hines Fire Department provided immediate mutual aid response.
Crews worked swiftly to establish a perimeter around the blaze, successfully holding the fire to approximately a quarter of an acre (0.25 acres). No structural damage or injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Local authorities remind residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of smoke immediately, as dry conditions and warm summer temperatures continue to heighten local fire risk.
