SALEM – Gov. Kate Brown has issued a list of applicants for both the Oregon Supreme Court and the state Court of Appeals. Judge Daniel J. Hill of Hermiston is one of the 28 names on that list. The judge for the Sixth Circuit Court is a Hermiston native and a retired Oregon National Guard brigadier general.

Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson said he hopes Hill makes the cut, because of what he could bring to one of the courts, both of which are dominated by judges from the west end of Oregon.

“One thing I’ve always thought the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court needs more of is diversity in representation throughout the state,” Nelson said.
