PENDLETON – The Hill Meat Company is announcing the expansion of its processing facility due to continued growth. The Port of Umatilla helped making it happen according to Hill Meat Company President Nicole Sorensen.

Hill Meat needed to secure the necessary space for essential utilities to cross a neighboring property. Sorensen said that discussions with General Manager Kim Puzey and David Blanc, the port’s counsel, the Port of Umatilla offered a parcel of land at a very nominal cost to facilitate the project. The company did not reveal the cost of the land, nor did it say how much the expansion will cost.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from the port commission, Kim Puzey, and David Blanc,” Sorensen said. “This partnership is an excellent example of how local organizations work together to support the growth of a family-owned business like ours. The port’s generosity has made this expansion possible, and we are proud to continue our operations in Pendleton and Umatilla County.”
