Highway 244 will be closed for a time, this week

UPDATE: The 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM closure scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) has been canceled.  The contractor will still be blasting, but it will be a small test one they expect to be able to clear in 20 minutes or less that will not necessitate a long closure.

The blast is scheduled to take place at noon.  If you happen to travel through there at that time, expect about a 20-minute wait.

STARKEY, OR – Information provided and an Update from ODOT: Construction project on Hwy 244 at Milepost 36 (between Red Bridge and Starkey)

The first blast will take place Wednesday, April 21.  The highway will be closed at MP 36 between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on Wednesday to accommodate the blast and operations to clear the highway of debris.  There are no additional blasts or long term closures scheduled for the week.

The contractor will also complete excavating the bench necessary to accommodate drilling for future blasts, as well as begin hauling off excess materials from the site.

During work hours, traffic will be controlled by flaggers.  During non-work hours, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.  Delays of 10 to 15 minutes can be expected 24/7.
