PENDLETON – Much of the Columbia Basin is under a red flag warning Thursday, with dry conditions and wind gusts of up to 30 mph forecast.
The warning covers a region stretching from Jefferson County, Oregon, north to the Canadian border, and from the Cascade Mountains east to the Washington-Idaho state line.
Cities affected by the warning include Pendleton, Hermiston, Heppner and Walla Walla.
Any fire that develops is highly likely to spread rapidly under these conditions.
