HERMISTON – The Class of 2023 at Hermiston High School graduates on June 8 at 7 p.m. at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. Local residents can wish them well during the senior parade on June 2 as they don caps and gowns and walk the block starting at Kennison Field. The time of the parade has not yet been announced.
Hermiston School Superintendent Tricia Mooney said the current crop of seniors are spirited, embracing their status as they end their high school careers.
“They’re excited about everything that is ‘senior,’” she said. “I’ve heard tell there’s a senior skip day that’s in the works and they’ve got plans for their pranks.”
Mooney said that administrators want students in the classrooms but admits to having a soft spot for high jinks as long as it’s safe.
“As a superintendent, I want kids in school but I love that they are doing all the things that are the hallmark of high school and having so much fun with the experience,” she said.
