HERMISTON – Three new varsity coaches have been hired by the Hermiston School District for next year. Superintendent Tricia Mooney said that it’s important that they are all on board and ready to go.
“There’s a lot that happens with high school sports with our summer programs,” she said. “Those are going to kick off in what seems like will be no time.”
All three coaches are familiar with the programs they will be leading. The new boys basketball coach is Hermiston native Bryan Edwards, who most recently was head coach of Columbia Basin College in Pasco. HHS alum and soccer star Ricardo Sotelo Santoyo is the new boys varsity soccer coach. Daniel Headley is moving up from assistant to head coach of the volleyball team.
“There are three new coaches to join our teams as we start looking towards next year,” Mooney said. “We’re excited to have some new head coaches on board.”
