HERMISTON – Two teams from the Hermiston FFA Chapter left their mark nationally. Superintendent Tricia Mooney says the ag issues team placed third in the nation and the ag communications team received a silver award, the second-highest award given.
“It really is a culmination of a lot of hard work, commitment, perseverance, and grit by our kids,” Mooney said.
There was no national FFA conference held in 2020, but Mooney said the FFA welcomed students who qualified but were not able to participate last year and had graduated high school.
“We had a couple of students that actually joined the team in Indianapolis that are away at college,” she said. “So, they graduated last year but were a part of those teams that earned a bid to nationals last year and were able to join those teams and wear the Hermiston FFA corduroy jacket one more time.”
The Hermiston School District Board of Directors will recognize the team at its December meeting.
