SALEM – Gov. Tina Kotek announced Tuesday that she has formed the Oregon Data Center Advisory Committee. She says the group is charged with developing policy recommendations and actions to address issues of statewide significance associated with the growing number of data centers in the state.
One of the members of the task force is Umatilla County Board of Commissioners Chair Dan Dorran. He wants to make sure the other members fully understand what data centers can bring to communities.
“I live the reality of data centers and what they mean to the community and how they interact in the community,” he said. “If there are concerns I want to address them from a lens of reality.”
Kotek said she expects the advisory committee to help ensure economic growth while protecting affordable power and water resources.
