Halloween falling on a Sunday has caused some changes to when merchants in Pendleton and Hermiston will hold trick-or-treat events. A majority of the stores participating are not open on Sundays.
In Hermiston, downtown trick or treating will be held on Friday. Treats on Main and Beyond will be from 3-5 p.m. Then the fun (recommended for those 10 and younger) continues at the Hermiston Community Center from 4-6 p.m. A teen Halloween party is planned at the Hermiston Public Library at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Saturday is when downtown Pendleton merchants will have treats for children from 3-5 p.m. A similar event is planned for McKay Creek Estates from 3-6 p.m. Also on Saturday, the Heritage Station Museum is holding the Heritage Haunt from 3-5:30 p.m. It is described as designed for young children and will feature the spooky caboose and some new surprises.
Pendleton Parks and Recreation knows that Halloween is best celebrated on Oct. 31. It will host its free Halloween Carnival and the Pendleton Convention Center Sunday from 2-4 p.m. There will be a costume walk, fishing, bobbing for gummy worms, face painting, and other activities for children of all ages.
