HERMISTON (News release from Hermiston School District) — Students in Hermiston High School’s Construction Tech 2 class recently completed a custom-built playhouse, modeled after a Montevista Homes design. The project was part of a real-world learning partnership that connected education, industry, and community. Commissioned to help promote Montevista’s new Upland Meadows development, the playhouse showcases the craftsmanship and teamwork students are developing through hands-on instruction.
The playhouse was designed and built by Lane Simmons, Adam Thomas, Logan Vertrees, and Nathaniel Henderson. It was unveiled in late October and later recognized during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Wednesday, November 13. In a generous gesture, Montevista Homes donated the completed playhouse back to the school, allowing the program to raffle it off and raise funds for future student projects.
“This playhouse isn’t just a structure, it’s a symbol of what our students can achieve when given meaningful opportunities,” said Micah Mercer, construction instructor. “We’re incredibly grateful to Montevista Homes for investing in our students and supporting their growth.”
Proceeds from the raffle will directly support Hermiston High School’s construction program, funding new materials, future builds, and continued real-world learning opportunities. Programs like this equip students with practical, career-ready skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lot, during Hermiston High basketball games, and directly from Construction Tech 2 students. The drawing will take place after students return from Christmas break in January 2026.
