HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council holds a work session at 6 p.m. today (Monday). That will be followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m.
The council has scheduled work sessions to take in-depth looks at the operations of the city’s various departments. This week’s session will be a report on the inner workings of the Hermiston Planning Department.
In the regular meeting, the council will hold a public hearing and then vote on an emergency request for annexation from Nathan Crowder for .72 acres of land at 910 W. Angus Ave. The property lies within the urban portion of the urban growth boundary and is adjacent to city limits on the east side. Crowder wishes to be annexed into the city due to the failure of his septic system.
City staff is recommending that Crowder sign an agreement for future street improvements including curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, if a local improvement district is formed for that purpose.
The meeting is in Hermiston Council Chambers at city hall, 180 N.E. Second St. It is also streamed live on Hermiston’s YouTube channel. To access on Zoom, the meeting ID is 862 2614 4112 and the pass code is 203345.
