HERMISTON – (Release from Hermiston School District) The 2025 graduation ceremony took place at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Washington, on June 5, at 7 p.m, with 353 students proudly walking across the stage. The event saw significant attendance from staff, family, friends, and students, reflecting strong community support for the graduates.
The class of 2025 has achieved remarkable academic success. One valedictorian was named under the districtโs weighted GPA policy, now in its third year. 39 students earned Honors Diplomas, and 98 seniors graduated with honors.
Students completed 201 Programs of Study, a 5.8% increase from last year. Completers wore stoles in the colors of their respective fields, with many earning more than one.
12 seniors qualified for enlistment in the U.S. military and wore red, white, and blue cords. We thank them for their service.
54 Hermiston High School seniors have collectively earned $5.3 million in scholarships, a powerful reflection of their hard work, determination, and focus on the future. This total includes nearly $4.2 million awarded through the Path to Scholarships workshop and $135,000 from local Hermiston and Umatilla County sources.
During the graduation ceremony, Principal Tom Spoo shared his parting words, reminding students that, โIn a world that often rewards those who speak the loudest, humility allows us to listen and to understand.โ
โThe Class of 2025 has shown resilience, growth, and heart,โ said Superintendent Dr. Tricia Mooney. โBehind each graduate is a team of educators and staff who believed in them and supported their journey. As they move forward, I hope they carry with them the values our schools strive to instill: integrity, compassion, and a commitment to serve.โ
