HERMISTON – A fast-moving brush fire destroyed three outbuildings and two vehicles on Pamela Drive in Hermiston on Wednesday afternoon, though officials said all nearby homes were saved and no injuries were reported.
Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 responded to the report of a brush fire around 3:30 p.m. position. Firefighters quickly upgraded the call to a multi-type response after arriving to find multiple outbuildings and vehicles fully engulfed in flames.
Forward progression of the brush was stopped quickly while crews worked to protect nearby homes.
The Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District, Boardman Fire Rescue District, Irrigon Fire Department, and Echo Fire Department assisted in the effort.
Three outbuildings and two vehicles were declared total losses. The cause is under investigation.
