PENDLETON – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a heat advisory for the eastern Columbia River Gorge and the lower Columbia Basin of both Oregon and Washington for Monday. The advisory is in effect from noon until 9 p.m.
Highs ranging from 98 to 102 degrees are expected throughout the area including the cities of Arlington, The Dalles, Boardman, Hermiston, Ione, White Salmon, Connell, Prosser, and the Tri-Cities.
Forecasters caution that the heat may cause heat-related illnesses to occur. While temperatures will cool slightly on Tuesday, it will still remain hot. Meanwhile, the highs for Pendleton and Walla Walla are not expected to hit 98 Monday.
People are advised to stay hydrated and remain in an air-conditioned room if possible. Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
