WALLOWA, OR – Hearts for Health live virtual event raises $221,902 in final fundraiser of the capital campaign.
Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness and Winding Waters Community Health Center held a live virtual fundraiser, which yet again showed the huge community support behind this project. This event was the fourth annual and final fundraiser of the capital campaign. Due to the current environment, this event could not take place at the Wallowa Lake Lodge this year. All funds raised during this event will go directly to the construction of the Hearts for Health Integrated Care Center currently under construction on Medical Parkway.
The Hearts for Health campaign has raised more than $800,000 over four events. This strong show of community support also helped the project earn a $2.5 million grant awarded by the State of Oregon last Fall.
This facility will open its doors to the public in the Fall of 2021 and will provide medical, dental and behavioral health services all under one roof. The Hearts for Health building will also have a teaching kitchen to host healthy cooking and eating classes and may possibly host future catered events. There will be a large conference room with technological capabilities to host virtual trainings as well as in person trainings, when possible.
This integrated care facility will not replace any space currently used to provide services from Winding Waters and will expand administrative spaces for staff in both organizations. The hope is that this building will provide a “one-stop shopping” experience for the healthcare needs of those in Wallowa County and help reduce the stigma of receiving mental health services.
Winding Waters and Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness look forward to expanding on the excellent array of services already being provided on the growing healthcare campus on Medical Parkway.
