JOHN DAY – Heart of Grant County Director Beth Simonsen was recently on KJDY’s Coffee Time, and explained that much of their funding to help survivors of domestic violence comes from grant moneys, which do require a match from the nonprofit organization:
“Originally, with some of the funding—especially federal funding, we have to provide matching funds from the community. So, we welcome donations. Anything that is donated to us, I count as matching funds. It can be if you donate clothing, bedding, and all those kinds of things, too.”
Also, Simonsen mentioned that the holidays can be hard. Anyone needing to talk, especially if you’re in a potentially violent or abusive situation, can call the Heart of Grant County hotline. Call 541-620-1342. The line is answered 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
