JOHN DAY – October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Heart of Grant County Advocate Rayme Lacey, along with Victim’s Assistance Advocate Dorothy Blood, were in the KJDY and News102 Newsroom to explain how domestic violence affects all of us:
“One-in-four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. So, even if you’re a man, look at the four women closest to you—your mother, your sister, your wife, your daughter—one of those people is going experience domestic violence in their lifetime.”
Lacey also mentioned that worldwide, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women; above motor vehicle accidents or anything else.
The Heart of Grant County help line is available all hours of every day. If you or a loved one are experiencing a domestic violence crisis, call (541) 620-1342.
