Harney, Malheur, & Baker counties to get hit with winter storm

HARNEY, MALHEUR, & BAKER COUNTIES – A Winter Storm Warning will go into effect Thursday morning in Harney, Malheur, and Baker counties. Blowing snow is expected with accumulation between 6 and 12 inches in the mountains and across northern Harney and Malheur counties. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, causing areas of blowing and drifting snow. Be prepared for difficult travel conditions. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow.

…WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM MST /4 AM PST/ THURSDAY

TO 11 AM MST /10 AM PST/ FRIDAY…

* WHAT…Snow and Blowing Snow expected. Total snow accumulations

  between 3 and 6 inches possible in the Treasure and Magic Valleys

  and 6 to 12 inches possible in the mountains and across northern

  Malheur and Harney Counties. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph

  causing areas of blowing and drifting snow.

* WHERE…Portions of south central, southwest, and west central

  Idaho and northeast and southeast Oregon.

* WHEN…From 5 AM MST /4 AM PST/ Thursday to 11 AM MST /10 AM PST/

  Friday.

* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will

  likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4

  mile due to falling and blowing snow. The hazardous conditions

  could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Travel not

  advised.
