Harney County resident sent 30 months for Forgery Conviction

BURNS (Released by Harney County District Attorney’s Office)-On March 12, 2024 Nicia Campbell was sentenced to 30 months for violating probation. The
sentence stems from a Forgery conviction in 2022.

On three separate occasions in August of 2021 Campbell entered a local business making fraudulent purchases utilizing forged United States currency. Further inspection by a store employee revealed the money was forged. Campbell claimed another individual provided the forged bills. Upon contact, the other individual denied the claim.

Campbell plead guilty and was sentenced to probation which included a drug treatment court condition. Probation was not successfully completed.

Harney County District Attorney Ryan Hughes prosecuted the case. Given Nicia Campbell’s criminal history, she was subject to a 30-month Oregon Department of Corrections sentence pursuant to ORS 137.717. Upon release, Campbell will be on 12 months post prison supervision.
