Harney County (Released from Harney County Emergency Management and National Weather Service Boise ID)-From Harney County Emergency Management – Current water levels at 10.56 ft and we’re supposed to see 11.5 ft later today but projections for the rest of the week are for the water to start going back down.
We still have some low land snow up in the hills that has to come off but we’re hoping with warm daytime temps and cold nights that it comes off more slowly.
If you need sandbags there are bags and sand at Burns Fire Department just past City Hall off Broadway in Burns. They’re fill-yourself but we will supply the bags. We do not have an open sandbagging operation at this time.
The Flood Watch information below is through 8am tomorrow morning.
the National Weather Service in Boise ID has issued a Flood Watch
for the following rivers in Oregon…
Silvies River Near Burns affecting Harney County.
Rain over the weekend combined with snowmelt from warmer
temperatures has resulted in increased river flows. River flows may
continue to increase as runoff enters the river.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Residents and those with interests near the river should monitor
rising water levels and be prepared for possible flood warnings.
The next statement will be issued Tuesday morning at 800 AM PDT.
At 12.0 feet, Flooding of fields will occur in the Burns area. Water will encroach on some private properties along North Broadway Avenue, Foley Road, and Stancliff Road. Water will be close to flowing on to Highway 20 at the Silvies River Bridge. Low spots in the Burns RV Park may be impacted.
