BURNS – According to a recent release from Harney County officials, Dag Robinson, the Harney County Clerk, was in Salem recently before the Senate Committee on Rules to discuss challenges that are faced in clerk’s offices throughout the state. Robinson is the Vice President of the Oregon Association of County Clerks, and explained that each election office within Oregon is funded by that county’s general fund. The release states that county clerk offices take on “unmandated services, like issuing passports, to offset the costs of providing mandated services.”

The statement goes on to explain that, “The association hopes to see some action on house bills (HB 3383, HB 3384, HB 3385, HB 3386, HB 3387) that would allow the clerk’s office to generate revenue via fees.”
