HARNEY COUNTY- (Release from Harney County School District #3)
Due to the extensive flooding in our community, Harney County School District #3 (Burns HS, Hines MS, Slater Elementary) will cancel school tomorrow, Monday, March 31, 2025.
Widespread flooding has rendered many roads impassable and poses significant safety risks. Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff, and this decision was made so that our school families could concentrate on their safety and homes. Burns High School will be open tomorrow from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm for anyone needing shower facilities. We will also have the high school open from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm with the same access. Harney County School District #3 asks you to continue to reach out to your neighbors and other community members and help each other in any way. This is a difficult time for many of our families, and we want to support them in any way we are able to.
Optional school sports practices will be at regular times for those students who are able to participate.
An update from the HCSD#3 will be sent out on Monday regarding how school will progress.
Superintendent,
Robert Medley
