PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council and the Pendleton Development Commission are holding a work session at 6:30 p.m. today (Tuesday). One of the items on the agenda is a request from Pendleton Convention Center Manager Pat Beard to set aside funds to renovate the Happy Canyon Room.
Beard says the last remodel to the room was in 2001. Two decades later he wants to step it up, calling it a rejuvenation project. He said that the upgrade will make the room fit for a number of uses, including a place to relax during large events. He’s asking the Pendleton Development Commission to spend $55,000 on the project.
Also on the agenda, the council will have a conversation with City Manager Robb Corbett on federal stimulus funds made available due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the PDC, Charles Denight will offer a financial presentation on potential project expenses, total debt required, and payback options.
Economic Development Director Steve Chrisman will present a marketing plan for tourism. He’s seeking $250,000 in funding for the plan.
The meeting can be joined via Zoom or by calling 253-215-8782. The meeting ID is 862 9225 7532 and the pass code is 558775.
