RICHLAND – The U.S. Department of Energy is resuming free public tours of the B Reactor National Historic Landmark, part of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park at the Hanford Site, following a two-year closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Registration for the tours is now open.
Tours will start Thursday, May 26, and continue into November, including six days per week through the summer, and as well as the Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day holiday weekends.
Registration is available online at http://manhattanprojectbreactor.hanford.gov/. Visitors who would like help scheduling a tour, or have special requests, are invited to call 509- 376-1647, or stop by the Manhattan Project National Historical Park visitor center, 2000 Logston Boulevard in Richland. Tour reservations are considered tentative until the COVID-10 Community Level for the following week has been determined.
Tours and the visitor center will only operate when the COVID-19 Community Level for Benton and Franklin counties is designated “low/green” by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Masks will not be required for the tours or in the visitor center, but visitors are welcome to wear them.
