HERMISTON – Four members of the Hermiston City Council were absent from the regular meeting Monday. Assistant City Manager Mark Morgan said most of the agenda could still be handled.
“We still had four councilors plus the mayor, which allows us to conduct most business, except for adopting ordinances,” Morgan said.
The two ordinances on the agenda were a renewal of the city’s franchise agreement with Cascade Natural Gas and updates to the city’s streets and sidewalks ordinance. Morgan said that both ordinances are relatively routine and can be handled at the next council meeting.
The council did approve the city’s wayfinding program. Morgan said the signage will not occur all at once, and will begin with signs directing people to downtown parking.
“We do have a pretty significant amount of public parking in our downtown core, but it is all located behind a lot of the Main Street and Hermiston Avenue businesses,” Morgan said.
The council also approved the final plat for phase one and phase two of the Legacy subdivision, which is zoned multi-family residential. The plat creates 31 lots. Thirty of those are proposed for single-family development with one large lot reserved for future development. The houses will be priced between $250,000 and $350,000.
