Haines woman arrested after pursuit

BAKER COUNTY – (Release by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office) On June 7, 2021 at approximately 4:31 p.m., Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of a theft occurring at the Haines Sell-Rite store. It was reported that a female took items without paying and pushed the cashier.

While deputies were enroute to the scene, they encountered the suspect’s vehicle driving south on Highway 30. Deputies turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver pulled over several times but would then take off. Baker City Police Department personnel deployed spike strips near Chico Lane to disable the vehicle. Contact was made with the spike strips deflating two tires, but the operator continued driving past Hughes Lane and pulled into a private driveway.

The driver, identified as Kimberly Ann Kirby (23 yoa) of Haines, refused to get out of the vehicle and was physically removed by law enforcement personnel. Kirby was taken into custody and charged with Robbery III, Burglary II, Theft III, Assault IV, Attempt to Elude, Reckless Driving, Disorderly Conduct II, and Resisting Arrest. She was transported and lodged at the Baker County Jail.
