Hagen Fire reaches 8,600+ acres, triggering elevated evacuation orders

UMATILLA COUNTY – Evacuation levels were updated Thursday morning for the Hagen Fire, located nine miles southwest of Tollgate.
Effective immediately, evacuation levels have been elevated in these areas of Umatilla County, Union County and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR):
LEVEL 3 (GO NOW) – for areas east of Forest Service Road 32 in the North Fork Wilderness Area, including Grouse Mountain.
Residents in LEVEL 3 (GO NOW) areas should leave immediately, as imminent danger is in the area. Leave without delay as it is unsafe to stay.
LEVEL 2 (BE SET) – the areas are within the CTUIR boundary in the Bingham Road area, plus the area just south of Hansel Road. Additionally, the area north and east of Langdon Lake.
For Union County, area south and west of Highway 204 north of intersection with USFS 31 Road, including Spout Springs Road and Canyon View Lane. Additionally, the area east of Highway 204 and north of USFS 3701 Road, and west of Sumner and Swamp Creeks (near Langdon Lake and Bald Mountain).
LEVEL 1 (BE READY) – this is the area to the north of Spout Springs and north to USFS 3725.
Fore Union County, area east of Highway 204 and north of USFS 3725 and 3701 Roads, south and west of power line corridor along USFS 030 and 054 roads, including Spout Springs Ski Area.
The Hagen Fire, as of this morning (Thursday), is 8,620 in size. The fire burned actively yesterday and reached Bingham Road in the north. The fire crossed Ryan Creek on the west and reached the ridgeline on Stumbough Ridge. Extensive structure assessment and protection is in place for residences threatened by the fire. The Oregon State Fire Marshal has mobilized an incident management team and three structural task forces to this fire and is in unified command with Northwest Team 7. The fire has moved east across the 32 road and established itself in the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness.
Northwest Team 7 also provided updates Thursday morning on three other fires:
The Horse Ridge Fire (688 acres) about 5 miles northeast of Meacham, grew only slightly. Firefighters are successfully holding the fire along FS Road 050, burning fuels along the road to strengthen it as a containment line, supported by helicopter water drops.
The Paradise Fire (675 acres) about 10 miles southeast of Walla Walla showed moderate growth yesterday. Teams have identified good defensible indirect line locations and line construction is underway, using helicopter water drops to keep the fire in check.
The Ninemile Fire (19 acres) about 4 miles southwest of Tollgate within the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness, has shown very little activity in the past several days.
