GU Commons in John Day open on Friday for grief support following loss of student

JOHN DAY – Grant Union Jr./Sr. High School is open on Friday, July 10^th, to provide support for students and staff who are grieving a loss in the Grant Union Community.

On the morning of Friday, July 10^th, emergency resources responded to a location on Highway 395C for a motor vehicle accident. Family members of the victim called to inform our newsroom that Timber Winegar, 16, tragically died in the crash that occurred early Friday morning.

For those wishing to help with funeral expenses, an account at Old West Federal Credit Union has been set up in Timber’s name.

No official details regarding the accident have been released at this time.

The GU commons will remain open between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Grant Union personnel stated, “For those who would like to gather, we will have support available for those who would like to talk with someone,” and, “…if anybody needs anything please do not hesitate to reach out. 541-575-1799.”
