PENDLETON – Pendleton Economic Development Director Steve Chrisman is asking the city for $250,000 in stimulus funds to beef up tourism in the downtown area during the summer. Public Works Director Bob Patterson said that Chrisman is working with Travel Pendleton and the Chamber of Commerce on the plan.

“He’s looking at 14 weekends starting June 5 through Sept. 6,” Patterson said.

The money would be used to pay for the events and to market them to attract visitors.

“Those events are a lot of tours, a lot of shows, and music every Saturday downtown,” Patterson said.

Chrisman presented the plan at a recent Pendleton Development Commission work session.
